Find us on the Johan Frisokanaal in Warns, just under fifty metres from the bridge. Our terrace overlooks the water, with the marina just around the corner — and boats sail past as you dine.
In our kitchen, we keep things genuine. Gaasterlander belly pork, smoked eel with Frisian sweet bread, fresh local fish and regional ice cream. Meat, fish or vegetarian — vegetables always come on the side, as they should.

Who was Greate Pier?
Café-restaurant Greate Pier takes its name from the symbol of Frisian liberty. His stature and strength were enormous: his sword was more than two metres long and weighed almost seven kilograms.
The farmers from the area around Kimswerd and Arum fought alongside Greate Pier against the Dutch and Saxons. Hard battles were also fought near Warns and Stavoren.
To distinguish between allies and enemies in battle, he made every suspicious person recite the Frisian sentence "Bûter, brea en griene tsiis, wa't dat net sizze kin, is gjin oprjochte Fries". Whoever could not do so knew for certain that his head would roll.
When Greate Pier was born is unknown. But he died in Sneek in 1520.

Schitterend terras aan het water op nog geen 50 meter van de brug. Heerlijk eten en prima prijzen. Leuke, maar ietwat vergeetachtige bediening. Wij hebben genoten na een fikse fietstocht rond Warns.
Echt een heerlijk restaurantje aan het Johan Friso kanaal. Goed eten met zowel vlees vis en vegetarische gerechten, met groente erbij zoals het hoort. Aardige bediening en ongedwongen nautische sfeer. Heerlijk eten en ondertussen de jachten zien langs varen, een aanrader!
Sfeervol restaurant aan de Elfsteden- route. Geweldige kok, klantvriendelijk en prijs/kwaliteit prima! Aanrader! Tip: reserveer op tijd een tafel, het is een geliefde plek.
